Pastor
Chris Winkler
With deep roots in the Wesleyan
tradition, Christopher E. Winkler serves as Pastor of
Roselle United Methodist Church. He and his wife, Kerry, an
executive with Lucent Technologies, met in the Youth
Fellowship of Community UMC, Naperville, when they were in
high school. After they were married, they served as
counselors to the youth group. Their two children, Kristen
(married to Darren Garvey) and Brandon have similarly grown
up in the church.
After graduating from
Naperville North High School, Chris worked primarily as a
carpenter and general contractor. Out of his construction
experience he has taken his church’s youth and adults on
literally dozens of summer work projects in Appalachia, New
Mexico, Maryland, Kentucky and Tennessee.
Always experiencing God’s call
to ordained ministry, Chris served as Pastor of Winfield
United Methodist Church while joining that congregation in
an affiliation with Gary UMC, Wheaton, Illinois, where he
also served as Associate Pastor for seven years.
A magna cum laude graduate of
North Central College, Naperville, Illinois, and a graduate
with honors from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary,
Chris brings a love of preaching, teaching, youth work, and
pastoral care to his ministry. The son, grandson and nephew
of Methodist ministers and the brother of a United Methodist
national executive, Chris is deeply rooted in Christ’s
Church.
