The Discovery class provides a contemporary look at the experience and expression of our faith.  The class features sessions that encourage discussion and reflection on the application of faith to our 21st century lives. October will feature The Ten, a fresh, current and contemporary look at the ten commandments.  Each session is designed as a stand alone experience of one of the commandments.

EXPLORATIONS - Digging Deeper into the Bible

An exploration of the bible, focusing on themes, books, characters and how scripture continues to influence us today. Will begin with a series titled “Becoming a Good Samaritan", which explains Christian social responsibility and justice. The sessions cover issues like poverty, AIDS, racism, genocide, child slavery, the disenfranchised (widows, orphans, the disabled), caring for the environment, and the dynamic impact a single Samaritan can make.  The curriculum features DVD clips of global leaders like Gary Haugen, Shane Claiborne, Brenda Salter-McNeil, Bishop John Rucyahana (Rwanda), Bishop Desmond Tutu, Chuck Colson, Zach Hunter, and many others.  These presenters and other participants - both known and unknown - will be woven into each session, creating a fabric composed of topical experts, theologians, front-line workers, victims, encouragers and first-timers so that participants can get a complete picture of the challenges and an understanding of how they can get involved - right where they live."

On the Road Again”   - by James W. Moore

Some of Jesus’ most powerful and poignant experiences happened on the road. In a real sense, we could say that Jesus spent his whole life on the road. He was born on a road trip. He died on a road trip. And one of his most dramatic post-resurrections appearances occurred on the road to Emmaus. This study explores the significance of Jesus’ experiences on the road and takes a close look at some of the people he met along the way.

1. On the Road with Some Would-Be Disciples

2. On the Road with The Rich Young Ruler

3. On the Road with Zacchaeus

4. On the Road with The Little Children
